Role Overview and Responsibilities
The Communications Director will serve as the lead communicator for a new firmwide initiative that positions JPMorganChase as the leading bank for small businesses. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and leading the end-to-end communications strategy for the small business initiative. This involves ensuring alignment with business objectives and firmwide priorities, developing compelling narratives and campaigns, and partnering with government relations and policy teams.
The role also involves leading external communications for the initiative, collaborating closely with internal communications, advising senior leaders, measuring and reporting on communications effectiveness, and managing and mentoring a dedicated communications team.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Interested candidates must have at least 10 years of experience in communications, media relations, public affairs, or a related field, ideally within financial services or a large, complex organization. They should have a proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and align diverse teams, experience in both internal and external communications, excellent storytelling, writing, and presentation skills, and experience advising senior executives. A Bachelor’s degree is required.
Preferred qualifications include an advanced degree, strong reporter contacts, and experience working in Washington, D.C. or with policymakers and government stakeholders.
