The Role of a Senior Program Manager

The Cash App is currently looking for a senior program manager to lead the sponsor bank partnership and program for Cash App Card and Square Banking products. This senior-level role requires the individual to manage the sponsor bank partnership and be responsible for the outcomes of the bank program.

The senior program manager will hold both internal and external stakeholders accountable to SLAs and obligations, and collaborate with internal owners for networks, processors, servicing/Reg E, fraud/risk, compliance, and product to deliver secure, compliant, and scalable results. This role requires a builder’s mindset, as the individual will be responsible for standardizing, templatizing, and streamlining operations, with a continuous focus on improvement.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Role

The senior program manager will undertake a variety of roles. These include owning the bank program and outcomes, designing and implementing program governance and accountability, managing program execution, and building a centralized requirements management system.

The individual will also be responsible for developing and owning program-critical KRIs/KPIs, identifying systemic issues and inefficiencies in program execution, and developing and maintaining a multi-quarter program roadmap. Additionally, the role involves coordinating across different teams, applying AI-assisted routing, making independent decisions, and communicating effectively with senior leadership.

Qualifications and Experience

A successful candidate for the senior program manager role will have at least eight years of experience in issuing payment cards and a background in consumer compliance, BSA, and/or risk management. They should also have a strong bias towards action and evaluation, with the ability to identify gaps and solutions proactively.

Other qualifications include experience in account management in the fintech ecosystem, excellent communication skills, strategic and analytical thinking abilities, and strong data analysis skills. The individual should also have a track record of leading complex, cross-functional projects from initiation to completion, delivering results on time and within scope.

Application Guidelines and Pay Structure

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, which may vary depending on location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. The salary ranges from $164,300 to $297,000 USD, depending on the zone.
