Are you a credit analyst with a minimum of four years of experience in financial institutions credit analysis? Do you have a knack for analyzing banks? If so, Morningstar DBRS is looking for you. The financial institution ratings company is currently seeking a full-time credit analyst to join its team in New York City, as an Assistant Vice President, Financial Institution Ratings – U.S. Banks. This position reports directly to the Sector Lead and offers both lead and backup analyst responsibilities for a portfolio of U.S. banks.

Role and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team of professionals responsible for analyzing financial institutions, primarily banks, in the U.S. As an analyst, your main responsibilities will include acting as a lead analyst for a portfolio of issuers, participating in rating committees, leading issuer meetings, and authoring topical research on the banking sector.

Additionally, you will participate in cross-team initiatives across the Fundamental Ratings group, which also includes the Corporate Finance and Sovereign ratings teams. Over time, you will be expected to interact with media outlets in various capacities to share credit opinions.

Furthermore, the position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong financial statement analysis abilities, and solid spreadsheet skills. The analyst will also prepare and deliver rating committee presentations and publish press releases, rating reports, and insightful topical research of high quality and regular cadence to contribute to Morningstar DBRS’s Thought Leadership goals.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate should have an undergraduate degree in business, finance, or a closely related field. A Master’s degree and CFA are a plus. Additionally, a minimum of three years of experience in bank/and or financial institution credit analysis or a directly related field is required.

Excellent business writing, communication, and analytical capacity are vital for this role. You should also have strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to proactively build an internal network across our Fundamental Ratings team. The candidate should be a team player with demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment and must be willing to travel as required. Bloomberg skills are a significant advantage.

The compensation range for the base salary is $97,854.00 – 157,938.00 USD annually with a 20% annual incentive target percentage.
