Job Description and Duties
The Banking Associate is a professional role within TD’s Personal & Commercial Banking line of business. The associate will be responsible for accurately completing everyday banking transactions, providing advice, and offering educational support on various services, products, and tools. This role is crucial in helping TD customers achieve their financial goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Processing customer transactions, opening new accounts, and educating customers on banking products and services.
- Building trust with customers through the provision of educational content and tools, consultative support, and proactive insights and recommendations.
- Using TD’s systems and tools to engage with customers, acquire and deepen relationships, and ultimately attract and retain customers.
- Understanding customers’ financial needs to identify opportunities to promote and educate on products and services or refer them to the appropriate team member or internal Bank partner.
- Accurately completing banking transactions either on the teller line or on the platform while uncovering customer financial needs.
- Servicing the customer, with the ability to open/close personal deposit accounts, assist with everyday bank transactions, address debit card/credit card issues, and provide assistance with mobile and online (digital) banking.
Education & Experience Requirements
Candidates for the Banking Associate role must meet several qualifications and skill requirements, including:
- A high school diploma or GED.
- At least 1 year of experience working with customers in any capacity. Volunteering, education, or military experience is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to be concise, clear, and consistent.
- Demonstrated effective problem-solving skills and sound judgment in decision making.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Preferred qualifications include teller experience and a Notary License.
Customer Accountabilities and Shareholder Accountabilities
The Banking Associate role includes significant customer and shareholder accountabilities. The associate will be responsible for providing legendary customer service, establishing and nurturing customer relationships, managing wait times, engaging in lobby leadership, and driving referrals to Store colleagues and partners to support the broader, more complex financial needs of customers.
From a shareholder perspective, the associate must ensure compliance when completing operational activities in accordance with company guidelines and regulations. This includes processing cash/deposit/withdrawal transactions, opening/closing accounts, ensuring compliance with all regulations, and applying customer authentication principles to new account openings and transactions.
Physical Requirements
The Banking Associate role involves a mix of sedentary work and physical tasks. Frequent tasks include sitting, standing, walking, operating standard office equipment, and performing multiple tasks. Occasional tasks include domestic travel, moving safely in confined spaces, lifting/carrying items of up to 25 lbs., squatting, bending, kneeling, crawling, climbing, and reaching overhead or forward.
