Benefits of Working at a Credit Union
For customers, the benefits of a credit union can include lower fees and higher savings rates. But for employees, the perks go far beyond just financial incentives. Sixty-eight credit unions have made this year’s list of the Best Credit Unions to Work For, offering a wide variety of unique benefits to their workers.
Unique Perks Offered by Credit Unions
From practical perks like discounts on auto loans to altruistic benefits such as paid time off for volunteer work, credit unions are going above and beyond to create a positive work environment for their employees. Some credit unions even offer unusual perks like free cardio drumming classes, showing their commitment to employee satisfaction.
How the Winners Were Determined
American Banker and the consulting firm Best Companies Group ranked the applicants based on two surveys—one for employers and one for employees. Credit union leaders were asked detailed questions about workplace policies, practices, and demographics, while employees were surveyed about their own experiences, including pay, benefits, and company leadership.
High Levels of Employee Satisfaction
Despite varying in size and location, all 68 credit unions on the list received high marks from their employees. According to the survey, 92% of respondents felt positively about their supervisors, 89% were satisfied with their roles, and 88% had confidence in their company’s leadership.
