The Changing Landscape of Office Days for Bank Employees
Recently, a bonus expectations survey conducted by eFinancialCareers garnered over 2,000 responses from global professionals in the banking industry. Apart from shedding light on bonus projections for the upcoming season, the survey delved into employees’ sentiments regarding job security, job-seeking intentions for 2026, and the number of days spent in the office.
Office Days Analysis
The survey results unveiled a mixed landscape in terms of office presence. Notably, employees at regional powerhouse ADIB were reported to spend almost the entire week in the office. In contrast, respondents from Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan averaged around 4.5 days per week in the office.
Surprisingly, Bank of America and Morgan Stanley employees indicated spending only 3.8 days per week in the office, while those at Citi reported a mere 3.4 days on average. Citi, in particular, stood out for its emphasis on hybrid working arrangements, in contrast to the push for a full return to the office by its competitors.
With Citi respondents recording the lowest average office days among the polled banks, UBS, HSBC, and Deutsche Bank employees closely followed suit. Despite this trend, some individuals expressed discontent with their office arrangements. A Deutsche Bank risk associate in Singapore commented on the “terrible” office culture, while a senior colleague in London voiced a preference for a maximum of two days in the office per week.
