Notable Departures
One such departure is Lofti Karoui, who served as Goldman Sachs’ London-based chief credit strategist and head of credit, mortgages, and structured product research. After dedicating 18 years to Goldman Sachs and achieving the rank of partner in January 2025, Karoui made the decision to join Pimco. In his LinkedIn post, Karoui expressed gratitude for his time at Goldman Sachs while emphasizing the significance of his new role as a managing director at Pimco.
Other prominent departures from Goldman Sachs’ London credit team include Dominic Ashcroft, who spent 23 years at the firm and held the position of head of EMEA leveraged finance before moving to Blackstone. Jeffrey Egee, the former head of leveraged finance trading for Europe, transitioned to Silverpoint, while Phil Aldis, a London partner and former head of international FICC structured investing, found a new role at Apollo as co-head of Europe asset-backed finance.
Further back in time, Luca Lombardi, a former partner and co-head of global credit and structured products at Goldman Sachs, departed in late 2023. In 2025, Lombardi established ArxNova, an investment firm focusing on the asset-backed securitization market, and recruited Enrico Orlandi, a managing director who departed Goldman Sachs alongside him.
