Citi recently introduced a new capability called Spaces within its Stylus Workspaces AI platform, allowing up to 15 employees to collaborate on projects with AI assistance. The pilot group of 250 employees has already begun using Spaces, and it will soon be rolled out to all 182,000 employees with access to Stylus Workspaces. This move reflects Citi’s ongoing commitment to enhancing its AI capabilities and driving productivity gains in the financial services industry.
Spaces provides a secure environment for teams to work together on documents, analyses, and reports, eliminating the need to share draft documents outside the tool for feedback or approval. According to Citi CTO David Griffiths, the goal of AI at Citi is to streamline workflows and projects by reducing extra touchpoints. With Spaces, employees can collaborate more efficiently, speeding up reviews, approvals, and decision-making processes.
Before the introduction of Spaces, employees had to conduct individual conversations within Stylus Workspaces and then share the results with their team outside the tool. Spaces now allows colleagues to collaborate on Stylus Workspaces conversations in one central location, promoting better communication and teamwork.
Stylus Workspaces, powered by Google Gemini and Anthropic Claude models, leverages Citi data to provide responses to employees and search the web for additional information. The platform is used for various tasks such as summarizing research, drafting reports, managing projects, and creating emails. Additionally, Citi has started integrating popular tools like Jira into Stylus Workspaces, enabling employees to complete work efficiently within the platform.
Spaces is the latest addition to Citi’s AI platform, following the launch of agentic AI tools that help employees extract insights from large datasets and streamline workflows. Citi CEO Jane Fraser emphasized the importance of AI in driving efficiency and transformation within the company, particularly in complex processes. Fraser highlighted the significant progress Citi has made in terms of operational capabilities, controls, and tech infrastructure over the past five years.
Overall, Citi’s introduction of Spaces for AI collaboration underscores the company’s commitment to leveraging technology to enhance productivity, efficiency, and collaboration among its employees. With a focus on innovation and continuous improvement, Citi is positioning itself as a leader in the financial services industry, driving transformative change through AI-driven initiatives.
