Introduction to the Vice President – Municipal Banking Officer Position

As the world of finance continues to evolve with ever-changing trends and advancements in technology, the demand for experienced and skilled professionals in this sector is on the rise. One such position that is currently garnering significant attention is that of the Vice President – Municipal Banking Officer. This role is a full-time, exempt position located at the headquarters of the company. The officer reports to the Senior Vice President – Corporate Lending Team Leader and is expected to earn a pay grade of EX 70, which ranges from $88,000 to $139,504 annually. The role requires availability from Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.

Primary Responsibilities of the Vice President – Municipal Banking Officer

The fundamental purpose of the Vice President – Municipal Banking Officer is to develop, implement, and manage relationships within the municipal market. The officer is expected to acquire new clients and retain and expand existing relationships, all in coordination with the SVP – Corporate Lending Team Leader.

As a key part of their role, the officer acts as a relationship manager for assigned municipal clients. They coordinate and provide excellent service, working to build and expand existing relationships. They also collaborate with branch management to develop leads and create contacts through networking. In addition, they assist the SVP – Corporate Lending Team Leader with implementing municipal sales plans to achieve corporate goals and objectives.

On top of these responsibilities, the officer is expected to model sales techniques to branch personnel on joint business calls, attend and assist with sales training courses as needed, and collaborate with Marketing staff, Staff Development, Commercial Services, and Branch Administration to achieve Bank goals.

Additional Duties and Expectations

In order to solicit municipal clients in the banking area, the officer is expected to create and execute a sales plan. They also coordinate and support municipal services for Pioneer Bank and actively call on area municipalities, government agencies, and quasi-municipal entities in cooperation with branch managers and other Pioneer Officers.

The officer is also tasked with coordinating lending to all local municipalities, school districts, and other public entities. They serve as a resource and support calling efforts on municipal services, develop municipal products as appropriate, and actively participate in municipal groups, including NYSASBO and GFOA, as well as other community organizations. Finally, they are expected to provide input and feedback to the SVP – Corporate Lending Team Leader regarding municipal sales progress, market conditions, and forecasts.

Education and Experience Required

The ideal candidate for the Vice President – Municipal Banking Officer position should have a Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field. They should also have a minimum of 3-5 years of commercial banking experience. Experience providing financial services to municipal clients is preferred. Additionally, the candidate must have access to reliable transportation on short notice and hold a valid driver’s license, with the ability to maintain this throughout their employment.
