They also handle the acquisition, structuring, negotiation, and closing of Supply Chain Finance transactions. These transactions often involve partnerships with other financial institutions and third-party platforms.
One of the critical aspects of this role is risk management. This involves a thorough evaluation of risks associated with borrowers, countries, and structures, including ABL Borrowing Bases. The results of this assessment form the basis for New Deal Meetings with the bank’s credit department.
Building and Maintaining Relationships
A significant part of the role is establishing and nurturing relationships with Borrower/Obligors and Arranger Banks. This requires regular contact and effective communication. Moreover, the Supply Chain Finance Specialist/Relationship Manager is responsible for preparing credit applications for new transactions/credit facilities and overseeing the approval process.
The role also involves credit documentation, in collaboration with both external and internal lawyers, banks, and other departments within the organization. It is also the Specialist/Relationship Manager’s responsibility to secure all necessary documentation for compliance and filing.
