Role Overview
The Senior Manager for Governance & Control is responsible for leading a highly complex and diverse governance and control function. This involves managing significant risk areas, ensuring an integrated approach with other business governance and control areas, the broader organization, and enterprise control functions.
Key Responsibilities
The Senior Manager is tasked with providing people management leadership by hiring top talent, setting goals, developing staff, managing employee performance, and promoting teamwork. The role involves overseeing a highly complex and diverse function while growing talent and developing skills to achieve business results. The Senior Manager will also manage the overall discipline and strategy for the respective areas while aligning with enterprise best practices. The role further extends to coaching, mentorship, and guidance to practitioners, business executives, and setting operational team direction.
Required Skills and Experience
An ideal candidate for this role should possess an undergraduate degree and have over 10 years of relevant experience. Deep industry knowledge on risk and control functions is essential, along with advanced knowledge of governance, risk, and control procedures. The candidate should also have a strong understanding of risk management environment, standards, regulations, and mitigation. Proficiency in analytical software tools, data analysis methods, and reporting techniques is also required. The ability to communicate effectively, work collaboratively, exercise sound judgement, and handle confidential information with discretion is key to this role.
Customer, Shareholder, and Employee/Team Accountabilities
The Senior Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing a holistic governance and control strategy for the business function, managing activities requiring alignment across multiple areas, and leading the implementation of regulatory change management. They will also ensure an integrated and aggregated view of all business risk and control activities across the function.
For shareholders, the Senior Manager will work closely with senior management to develop a business plan, ensuring the optimal use of resources. The manager will also assess and identify key issues, ensuring business operations are in compliance with applicable requirements.
As a team leader, the Senior Manager will be responsible for the management of the team, providing leadership, guidance, and expertise. This includes setting performance objectives for the team, tracking performance, and ensuring adherence to enterprise frameworks and methodologies.
