The Role of Square Financial Services in Block’s Vision
Square Financial Services, Inc (“SFS”), is the banking division of Block. The SFS Bank Platform team is entrusted with the critical task of managing, moving, and understanding all the funds at SFS. The team builds gateways to banking networks, automates accounting operations for the finance team, and lays the groundwork for more of Block’s products. The SFS team is currently looking for talented professionals to help them build a better bank.
What You Will Do
The role involves designing and building new features into the banking platform that cater to the diverse needs of Block’s broad portfolio of products and services. It also includes partnering with engineering teams across Block to onboard their products to SFS and building systems that operate on the customers’ most sensitive data while holding Square to the highest standards for security and compliance. The job also requires designing fault-tolerant systems and ensuring the continued operation of critical services, remediating any problems, and designing durable fixes to prevent future occurrences.
What You Need
The ideal candidate should have at least five years of relevant experience and a bachelor’s degree. They should have hands-on skills in building software products or services in the cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.) and a track record of building software that is easy to observe and operate. The candidate should have a strong sense of customer empathy and a drive to ship software that improves their lives. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must as this is a remote-forward team.
Preferred, but Not Required
Proficiency in building products and services using AWS and Kotlin, experience in building public APIs and tools for finance operations are desirable but not mandatory.
