On-site Office Role
This particular role at Northern Trust is an office-based position. As such, the duties and responsibilities will need to be carried out on-site, playing a crucial part in the effective performance and smooth running of the organization.
Sr. Teller Position
The Senior Teller at Northern Trust is responsible for processing and approving transactions for clients within specified limits. They also assist other tellers in managing complex transactions and resolving issues. Additionally, they cross-sell the bank’s various products and services to clients.
Key Responsibilities of a Sr. Teller
The primary responsibilities of the Sr. Teller include accepting, approving, and processing transactions for clients within the specified limits. They are also responsible for receiving deposits, cashing checks, processing savings deposits or withdrawals, receiving loan or tax payments, and issuing money orders, cashier checks, and travelers’ checks.
Furthermore, Sr. Tellers are tasked with balancing daily sales of travelers’ cheques, inputting daily transmission of savings bond purchases into the federal system, and preparing large currency transaction reports. They also conduct teller audits, resolve problem situations, and identify fraudulent transactions according to established procedures.
Another significant aspect of their role involves assisting clients with non-standard inquiries regarding their accounts, communicating regularly with personal bankers, and conducting research to balance contra accounts. They also respond promptly to clients’ needs and cross-sell the bank’s products and services.
Requirements for the Role
The ideal candidate for the Sr. Teller role should have a minimum of 2-3 years of teller experience. Knowledge of teller operations, usually acquired through high school level business courses and prior teller experience, is necessary to process complex transactions. Additionally, math skills are required to balance the cash drawer, and personal computer skills and a 10-key adding machine are necessary to enter and record transactions.
Salary and Benefits
The salary range for the Sr. Teller position at Northern Trust is $48,000 – $72,000 USD.
