This role is vital to the bank’s efforts to transform and modernize its banking technology to better serve its customers. Key Responsibilities of the Role
As a Senior Manager of Software Engineering at Capital One, the chosen candidate will have a wide range of responsibilities. They will lead a team of developers who have deep experience in distributed microservices and full-stack systems to create solutions that meet the company’s regulatory needs. They will collaborate with digital product managers to deliver robust cloud-based solutions to help millions of Americans achieve financial empowerment. They will also utilize programming languages like Java, Python, SQL, and Go Open Source RDBMS and NoSQL databases, Container Orchestration services including Docker and Kubernetes, and a variety of AWS tools and services.
Qualifications for the Role
Capital One has set forth a list of basic and preferred qualifications for this position. The basic qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree, at least 6 years of professional software engineering experience, at least 1 year experience with cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud), and at least 4 years of people management experience.
Preferred qualifications include a Master’s Degree, 9+ years of experience in at least one of the following: Java, Python, SQL, or Go, 3+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service, 4+ years of experience in open source frameworks, 7+ years of people management experience, 2+ years of experience in Agile practices, and 2+ years of experience in DevOps Engineering.
