Role and Responsibilities of a Senior Finance Associate
The Senior Associate will be responsible for managing monthly processes and forecasts, preparing profit and loss statements, and conducting scenario planning. A significant part of the role involves performing reporting and analysis to support presentations and ad hoc requests. Additionally, the candidate will be required to build reports for higher-level associates, contributing to the financial narrative that is presented to the Finance Senior Leadership team.
Apart from core FP&A duties, the role involves partnering with business customers to drive strategic business direction, leading to sustainable performance. The individual will also be encouraged to challenge existing processes to make them more effective, proactive, and efficient.

Key Responsibilities
The Senior Finance Associate will be responsible for delivering accurate and efficient financial forecasts and management reporting, coordinating and collecting input data from Business and Financial Analysts, and performing financial reporting and analysis. Assisting in the development of business presentations for senior audiences and handling ad-hoc requests and special projects are also part of the role.
Qualification Criteria
Capital One requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree or military experience for this role, along with at least one year of experience in financial analysis and financial modeling. Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree in a quantitative major such as Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, a Master’s Degree in Business Administration or Finance, a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, and previous experience with Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
Salary and Benefits
The annual salary for this role varies by location, with McLean, VA offering $94,600 – $107,900, while Richmond, VA offers $86,000 – $98,200 for a Senior Financial Analyst. The role also comes with performance-based incentive compensation that may include cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives.
