Qualifications for the Senior Data Engineer Role

Other preferred qualifications include five or more years of application development experience in Python, SQL, Scala, or Java. Candidates should have at least two years of experience with a public cloud (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud), and three years of experience with distributed data/computing tools like MapReduce, Hadoop, Hive, EMR, Kafka, Spark, Gurobi, or MySQL. The ideal candidate should also have two years of experience in real-time data and streaming applications, NoSQL implementation (Mongo, Cassandra), and data warehousing (Redshift or Snowflake). Three years of experience with UNIX/Linux, including basic commands and shell scripting, and two years of experience with Agile engineering practices are also preferred.

Compensation and Benefits
The full-time annual salary for the Senior Data Engineer role varies by location. For instance, in Wilmington, DE, the salary ranges from $144,200 to $164,600. The actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter. Part-time roles will be prorated based on the agreed-upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
In addition to the salary, this role is also eligible to earn performance-based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives.
