What Interns Will Do?
As an intern with Bank Iowa, you’ll embark on planned rotations across key areas within the Retail Banking and Lending Divisions. The program includes a teller training component, where you’ll learn the fundamentals of the core banking system, bank policies, procedures, and regulations. This necessary knowledge will enable you to perform teller transactions, crucial for any banking job.
Interacting with personal bankers will help you understand personal banking products, services, and the methods for delivering superior client experiences. Working with Loan Assistants and Relationship Managers will give you a glimpse of the loan origination process and the organisation’s business development culture.
Key Responsibilities During the Internship
The internship is not just about learning; it’s about doing. Interns are expected to deliver a friendly, superior client experience through timely and accurate processing of accounts and transactions. They’ll handle checks and cash for deposits, verify amounts and endorsements, and enter deposits into records.
Other responsibilities include cashing checks, processing withdrawals, counting currency, and balancing cash drawers at the end of shifts. Interns also work closely with Relationship Managers to learn the complete loan origination process.
General Responsibilities and Requirements
Aside from specific tasks, interns also need to understand and comply with banking regulations by following bank policies and procedures. They should stay abreast of relevant regulations, current industry matters, and any internal changes to ensure compliance.
As far as skills and experience are concerned, the candidate must be enrolled at a 2-year junior college or 4-year college/university as a sophomore, junior, or senior. Leadership skills demonstrated through participation in school and community activities are preferred. Prior cash handling/client experience is an added bonus but not a requirement.
Work Hours and Travel
The internship program runs full-time for 10-12 weeks during Summer 2025. The days and hours of operation vary with each Bank Iowa location. The interns may also have to travel between bank locations occasionally during their internship.
