Essential Job Functions
Customer Service Duties:
The Retail Banking Representative will have several responsibilities. These include opening and maintaining a variety of accounts in line with the Bank’s policies and procedures. They will also present and cross-sell bank products, actively promoting the bank and its services. This can involve setting up a table outside the branch and handing out information when necessary. The role also involves participating in off-site sales calls, branch networking, community and CRA activities.
Responsibilities behind the Teller Line:
Other duties of the Retail Banking Representative revolve around teller functions such as processing deposits / withdrawals, cashing checks, and assisting other representatives in balancing daily transactions. They will also research and investigate customers’ claims in archive area, related to missing deposits, missing checks, original ATM envelopes, etc., in a timely manner to resolve issues.
General Responsibilities:
General responsibilities include assisting Officers in performing various branch functions and reports, rendering priority services to customers in need of special handling, and performing various related clerical duties as directed. The representative will also utilize the Bank’s Redi system to keep current with updates to policy and procedures.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Requirements
The ideal candidate for the Retail Banking Representative position should have a high school diploma or equivalent, a minimum of two years teller experience, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and detailed knowledge of banking procedures, regulations, and all branch-related functions and terminal systems. Flexibility to work and/or transfer throughout the network, as needed, is also essential.
Compensation and Equal Opportunity
The starting base salary for this role ranges between $25 to $27 per hour. However, actual base pay can depend on several factors such as training, transferrable skills, work experience, business needs, and market demands. Hybrid Work Model
From February 18, 2025, employees in office-based positions at Amalgamated Bank will work a Hybrid work schedule. This means working on-site for three days or more per week, Monday – Thursday. Fridays are designated as a remote-working day unless business-critical tasks require an on-site presence. However, this hybrid model does not apply to contact center, branch service roles, and general services where the work is located at a company site.
