Responsibilities of the Relationship Manager 2
The Startup Banking team at SVB is dedicated to building deep and authentic relationships with early-stage founders, clients, prospects, and partners. As a Relationship Manager 2, you will be expected to apply your expert knowledge of the VC ecosystem and maintain strong relationships with local seed investors and channel partners. You will also be responsible for the financial performance and risk management of the client portfolio.
Your role will involve being a thought leader within the venture ecosystem and internally across the RM team. You will also manage the P&L for your portfolio and strive to achieve GP targets while managing the expense budget.
In addition, you will own relationships with key channel partners and drive quality early-stage client origination. You will articulate your point of view on current issues in the innovation economy and leverage SVB’s rich data and market insights. Your expert knowledge on SVB products and services will be invaluable in collaborating with internal partners to deliver a cohesive go-to-market approach.
Qualifications for the Role
The role requires a high school diploma or GED plus 8 years of Relationship Management/Business Development experience in Start Up Technology or a Bachelor’s degree plus 4 years of Relationship Management experience.
Preferred qualifications include banking experience working with high growth, VC backed companies, prior experience as a startup founder, operator, investor, or ecosystem builder, domain expertise in technology and the innovation economy, a strong network in the tech startup ecosystem, and a strong understanding of the trends impacting the startup ecosystem and venture capital.
The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker, a highly skilled relationship builder, a strong communicator, negotiator, marketer, and closer, a collaborative team player, and have the ability to manage time, priorities, and work independently. In addition, the candidate should have a strong ability to coach and mentor team members.
The base pay for this position ranges from $140,700 to $187,600 per year. This is in addition to variable compensation, which may be in the form of incentive or bonus pay, and a comprehensive benefits program.
