What Does the Position Entail?
A Relationship Manager in business banking is responsible for developing and managing relationships with business banking clients in their assigned business segment and/or geographic areas. They participate actively in the sales process of their assigned region to meet Regional and individual goals and objectives. This role also ensures that CNB’s credit quality and risk management guidelines are maintained.
The Relationship Manager presents a variety of product solutions to meet client needs and provides responsive, quality service. They approve transactions within their delegated authority and manage the overall profitability of their portfolio. The role requires active calling efforts and referrals from existing customers and line colleagues from Personal & Business Banking and other divisions. The Relationship Manager also needs to be in good standing under “The Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008” (Safe Act) and be registered/licensed with the “Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry” (NMLS), or be able to register under the Safe Act.
The Role in Detail
The Relationship Manager identifies and develops profitable relationships with clients, consistent with the objectives of the bank. They work closely with existing and new clients to understand their specific financial requirements and provide effective solutions. This role also involves supporting other CNB departments and colleagues to provide customers with the recommended solutions.
The Relationship Manager prepares a Relationship Plan and calling schedule for each client or prospect in conjunction with the strategic business development program. They identify business opportunities and solicit referrals of other Bank products or services. They also call on existing or prospective clients to discuss and promote all Bank products and services to establish a total client banking relationship.
One of the key responsibilities of the Relationship Manager is to negotiate transactions, document and close loan transactions, ensuring conformance with Bank policy and regulatory requirements. They exercise sound credit and risk judgment in approving transactions, representing the Bank by actively participating in outside civic and community affairs, and business and industry-related organizations.
Qualifications and Skills Required
The role requires a minimum of 10 years of banking experience, including 8 years of commercial lending experience within the segment, and 5 years of credit experience. Good interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required, along with good problem-solving skills. The candidate must have working knowledge of Bank operations, policies, procedures, and regulatory compliance, and general knowledge of Bank products and services.
Compensation and Benefits
The starting base salary for this role is between $92,114 and $156,880 per year. The exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This job is eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
