Understanding the Role
The Healthcare Technology team is a part of J.P. Morgan’s Commercial Bank, within its Commercial and Specialized Industries group. As a Relationship Executive, you will be tasked with growing and retaining profitable relationships within this group, focusing particularly on Healthcare Technology.
Your role will make you the focal point of client acquisition and ongoing relationships with some of the world’s most innovative companies. You will need to work both independently and as part of a dynamic team to deliver comprehensive financial solutions to your clients.
Key Job Responsibilities
As a Relationship Executive, you will have a broad range of responsibilities. These include:
- Building a brand within your market that represents the Healthcare Technology team as the “Leading Middle Market bank serving the best and most diverse clients”.
- Developing new business in your market, acquiring new relationships, deepening existing ones and delivering comprehensive financial solutions.
- Leading internal strategic discussions with partners across Investment Banking, Capital Markets, Risk Management, and Payments.
- Promoting a culture of innovation and a customer-centric mindset, balanced against managing risk (credit, operational, and reputational) appropriately.
- Researching prospects and participating in ‘discovery’ to determine the banking tools they need to power their business while also identifying opportunities for strategic partnerships.
- Being part of a dynamic and growing team with over 10,000 prospects nationally.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills
The role of a Relationship Executive requires specific qualifications, capabilities, and skills including:
- 8+ years of related experience.
- Credit experience with investor-backed companies.
- A strong understanding of Commercial Banking products and services.
- An understanding and interest in high growth software, payments, e-commerce, and marketplaces.
- Exemplary sales management and business development skills.
- Proficiency in building and maintaining positive client relationships.
- Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to establish credibility and strong partnerships with senior business and control partners.
- The ability to leverage established relationships within the venture capital and private equity ecosystem to drive new business.
- Being self-directed, proactive, and creative, using sound judgment and navigating ambiguity to get things done.
- FINRA Series 79, 63, and Securities Exam Essentials licenses required or must obtain within 180 days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills
While not mandatory, the following qualifications, capabilities, and skills are preferred:
- A Bachelor’s degree and formal credit training.
- Experience working with Capital Markets and Investment Banking products/services.
