Key Responsibilities of a Relationship Associate
The primary responsibilities of a relationship associate in senior business banking include championing for clients and colleagues, providing stellar service, and promoting appropriate solutions for clients. The role involves working as a cohesive unit to service client transactions while also upholding the operational integrity of the branch. This includes executing daily processes and managing cash handling responsibilities.
Another integral part of this role is being able to deliver all components related to new accounts, including account maintenance, service requests, and risk management. The associate is tasked with appropriately profiling clients during the new account process and actively identifying cross-sell opportunities of City National Bank’s products and services. They also support sales colleagues to build and maintain branch client relationships, recognizing and recommending cross-selling opportunities to maximize banking office profitability.
Professional interaction with all levels of Bank personnel, corporate and bank clients is a must. The associate ensures that all decisions made align with the Bank’s policies and procedures, applicable regulations, and that the risks associated with those decisions can be effectively managed. Collaboration with the City Loan Center (“CLC”) and sales partners is also crucial, as is compliance with all Bank Operational and Credit policies and procedures as well as all regulatory requirements (e.g. Bank Secrecy Act, Know Your Client, Community Reinvestment Act, Fair Lending Practices, Code of Conduct, etc.).
Qualifications and Skills Required
This role requires a minimum of one year of cross-selling experience, two years of customer service experience, and two years of cash handling experience. Basic computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook) are also required. Additional qualifications include working knowledge of Bank operations, policies, procedures, and regulatory compliance. General knowledge of Bank products and services, good interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, the ability to organize and prioritize work, and good problem-solving skills are also essential.
Benefits and Compensation
The starting base salary for this role ranges from $71,869 – $114,797 per year, with the exact compensation varying based on skills, experience, and location. This job is also eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
