Role and Responsibilities
The Principal Risk Advisor will be at the forefront of risk management, working closely with various stakeholders to identify unmitigated risks. The role involves more than just identifying risks – it requires the development and implementation of innovative solutions to strengthen the control environment and reduce risks for the business.
Key responsibilities of the Principal Risk Advisor include participating in risk assessments, providing risk consulting, and managing relationships with various areas of support and functional stakeholders. The role also involves identifying and tracking issues and events within Consumer Advisory to mitigate risk, supporting change control efforts at the process level, and providing support during audits and regulatory exams.
Given the breadth of responsibilities, Principal Risk Advisors at Capital One need to be highly motivated risk management professionals who possess critical thinking and problem-solving skills. They are expected to have excellent organizational and communication skills and a high level of exposure across lines of business. The role offers the unique opportunity to work with senior management to create and implement innovative solutions to identify and mitigate potential risks to the Company.
Qualifications and Skills
Basic qualifications for the Principal Risk Advisor role include at least 2 years of experience supporting Risk Management, at least 1 year of Project Management experience, and at least 1 year of G-Suite experience (such as Gmail, Slides, Sheets, Docs).
