The Role of a Bank Portfolio Manager Senior at USAA
The Bank Portfolio Manager Senior is tasked with supporting the Bank portfolio and ensuring compliance with applicable policies, procedures, standards, controls, and regulations. This role requires advanced data analysis skills to identify key trends and insights within the portfolio. You will also need to develop and deliver presentations to the Bank leadership team, providing clear and concise reports on portfolio health and performance. This role is crucial in influencing data-driven decision-making and ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and protection of data presented to both Bank Leadership and the Bank Board.
The Bank Portfolio Manager Senior also supports technology investment planning and coordinates with Project/Program Managers on budget inputs and updates. This position requires the individual to be in the office four days per week and can be based in various locations across the United States, including San Antonio, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Colorado Springs, CO, Chesapeake, VA, Charlotte, NC or Tampa, FL.
Key Responsibilities
The Bank Portfolio Manager Senior oversees low to moderately complex company or line of business portfolios. This includes facilitating the identification, management, and resolution of systemic cross-work risks/issues and interdependency conflicts for work effort(s) / program deliverables. The role also involves leveraging analytics to research and identify Financial Management risks and recommend solutions to address opportunities.
Another key responsibility is to monitor and make prioritization recommendations to ensure portfolio alignment and delivery against strategic priorities. The Bank Portfolio Manager Senior also communicates portfolio statuses and changes regularly with executive sponsors, program sponsors, business owners, and additional stakeholders. The role also involves driving the adoption and sustainment of changes within the organization in compliance with USAA’s Change Management methodology.
Qualifications and Skills
The ideal candidate for the position of Bank Portfolio Manager Senior should possess a Bachelor’s degree or have four years of related experience. They should also have six years of progressive project, program, or portfolio management experience, including process improvement and/or consulting for large strategic efforts. A working knowledge in full lifecycle experience managing strategic and operational work efforts alongside experience with portfolio management and execution is key. Certification in project management, such as Certified Project Manager (CPM) or Project Management Professional (PMP), is also required.

Compensation and Benefits
USAA offers competitive compensation, with the salary range for this position being $114,080 – $218,030. The actual salary may vary by location.
