Key Responsibilities

The role of Permanent Lending Relationship Manager comes with a wide array of responsibilities. These include preparing conversion and credit underwriting packages, by evaluating operating statements, rent rolls, cash flow forecasts, project budgets and loan documents to identify changes in performance and potential risks upon the property’s stabilization.

As the primary point of contact for client requests, you will also be responsible for managing loan servicing requests and coordinating with clients on maturing loan payoff and take-outs. An important aspect of the role is risk management. You will work closely with the Credit Risk team to manage risk issues on an active book of loans, review and report on adversely classified loans, delinquencies, and maturing loans to mitigate risk issues and address performance concerns.

Required Qualifications and Skills

The position of Permanent Lending Relationship Manager requires a specific skill set and qualifications. Seven or more years in commercial real estate credit, real estate underwriting, and/or multifamily affordable housing is necessary, along with strong analytical and business writing skills. You should also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, have a strong understanding of accounting and finance, and be proficient in Microsoft products. A Bachelor’s degree is a requirement for this role.

Preferred Qualifications

While not compulsory, candidates with demonstrated experience with affordable housing finance, Low Income Housing Tax Credit transactions, and/or agency lending (Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac) will have an edge. Experience with loan modifications, consent requests, debt restructuring, workouts and dispositions, or working with state housing finance agency Low Income Housing Tax Credit administration and subordinate debt programs, tax exempt bond financing, and/or U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) subsidy programs, is also advantageous.
