Strengthening Legal and Regulatory Compliance
In the rapidly evolving world of cryptocurrencies, legal and regulatory compliance is of paramount importance. Anchorage Digital is seeking a competent regulatory lawyer to help navigate the complex landscape of bank and regulatory requirements. This individual will play a crucial role in assessing the company’s core services and assisting in the development of consumer-centric components for new business lines.
The prospective candidate will be Anchorage Digital’s internal expert on the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and related consumer financial laws and regulations. They will advise the business on regulatory changes, ensure compliance with federal consumer finance statutes, and respond to CFPB supervision and enforcement matters. The role also entails enhancing compliance management systems across the organization.
Key Skills and Responsibilities
The regulatory lawyer will be involved in various key areas of operation. These include advising on consumer impacts regarding new products or services, drafting and implementing company policies, and conducting compliance training for stakeholders. The successful candidate will also manage and respond to inquiries and enforcement actions from regulatory bodies and conduct internal legal audits and risk assessments.
Organizational Knowledge and Communication
Deep understanding of Anchorage Digital’s strategy is essential for this role. The candidate should be able to lead contract development and projects in alignment with team goals. They will also be expected to share knowledge across teams and prioritize work based on the company’s objectives. Excellent communication skills are a must, as the candidate will liaise with sales, product, engineering, operations, compliance, and other teams to develop new products, resolve legal issues, and strategize growth.
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate will have a J.D. degree with experience in corporate and consumer protection regulations. They will have at least 5 years of law practice, with at least 4 years specializing in consumer protection and/or retail regulatory compliance. They should also have a deep understanding of the FTC Act and state consumer protection laws and their application to crypto financial institutions. Enthusiasm for crypto and a foundational understanding of the crypto industry and applicable laws/regulations, both in the US and internationally, are also necessary.
