Role and Responsibilities of a Full Stack Software Engineering Manager
As a Manager of Software Engineering, you will be responsible for leading a portfolio of diverse technology projects and a team of developers. You will be tasked with creating solutions that meet the regulatory needs of the company using distributed microservices and full stack systems. Your role will also involve keeping abreast of tech trends, experimenting with and learning new technologies, participating in internal & external technology communities, and mentoring other members of the engineering community.
One of your critical responsibilities will be to collaborate with digital product managers to deliver robust cloud-based solutions that help millions of Americans achieve financial empowerment. You will be required to use programming languages like JavaScript, Java, HTML/CSS, TypeScript, SQL, Python, and Go, and work with Open Source RDBMS and NoSQL databases, Container Orchestration services including Docker and Kubernetes, and a variety of AWS tools and services.
Qualifications and Experience
The position requires a Bachelor’s degree and at least four years of experience in software engineering. Applicants must have at least one year of experience with cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud) and at least two years of people management experience. Preferred qualifications include a Master’s Degree, 7+ years of experience in at least one of the programming languages mentioned above, 3+ years of experience with a cloud service, 4+ years of experience in open source frameworks, 5+ years of people management experience, and 2+ years of experience in Agile practices.
Salary and Benefits
The full-time annual salaries for this role vary by location. For instance, in McLean, VA, the salary range is $197,300 – $225,100, and in New York, NY, it’s between $215,200 – $245,600. The role also includes performance-based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives.
