Driving Innovation: The Premium Products and Experiences (PPX) Business

The Premium Products and Experiences (PPX) business is an integral part of Capital One’s innovative approach. This division is responsible for driving the strategy behind rewarding and seamless experiences for premium customers. It is the team behind the award-winning Venture X credit card, a product that has set a new benchmark in the credit card industry.

These decisions are guided and informed by the insights and recommendations provided by the PPX Risk Advisors.

The Role and Responsibilities of a Risk Advisor

As a Risk Advisor, your role will be to provide professional risk judgment that enables the PPX business partners to tackle major business challenges. The objective is to win at the top of the market, a task that often involves complex initiatives requiring autonomous problem-solving. This involves engaging with stakeholders, researching solutions independently, and ensuring well-managed business process excellence.

As a Risk Advisor, you will be expected to:

  • Develop a deep understanding of business strategies, products, services, and risk profile.
  • Advise and consult with business teams to develop well-designed products, features, experiences, and supporting technologies in alignment with risk management policies and practices.
  • Support business partners to drive risk/return trade-off decisions and recommend necessary control and/or monitoring activities.
  • Serve as a liaison, interfacing with business partners, Tech, and other assurance functions, such as legal and compliance, to drive meaningful reductions in risk.
  • Analyze and synthesize data and reporting to proactively identify risks and trends and provide valuable insights that support decision-making.

Qualities of a Successful Risk Advisor

To excel as a Risk Advisor at Capital One, you need to be communicative and influential, action-oriented and results-driven, curious and analytical, up for a challenge and fungible, and collaborative and team-oriented.

Furthermore, successful candidates typically have at least 3 years of Financial Services Risk Management or Compliance experience or credit card product experience, and at least 3 years of Project Management experience. Preferred qualifications include 4+ years credit card product, servicing, or credit risk management experience, 5+ years of Project Management experience leading cross-functional projects, and a baseline familiarity with AI, among others.
