Roles and Responsibilities of a Lead Software Engineer, iOS (Bank Tech) at Capital One

The role of a Lead Software Engineer at Capital One involves a diverse range of responsibilities. You will develop iOS client code solutions that align with product strategy and adhere to established engineering best practices and design guidelines. You will also collaborate with Software Engineers, UX/UI, Quality Engineers, and Product Owners/Analysts to deliver high-performing customer experiences that are engaging, purposeful and simple.

As a team member, you will actively participate in all agile ceremonies and be responsible for delivering all team commitments on time, maintaining the highest quality. You will be an advocate of the mobile platform, both internally and externally, and remain an active learner in all technologies related to mobile development, including Swift, Kotlin, third-party libraries, and more.

Other responsibilities include mentoring junior to mid-level team members, actively engaging with developers outside of the local sprint team, leading the delivery of major components and platform needs in partnership with senior engineers and architects, consistently sharing best practices, identifying technical obstacles early, finding creative solutions, and reviewing pull requests to ensure adherence to Swift and other language idioms.

Qualifications for the Role

To qualify for this role, you need to have a Bachelor’s degree and at least four years of experience in software engineering (excluding internship experience). A minimum of three years of experience building iOS applications and working with Swift is also required.

Preferred qualifications for this role include a Master’s degree, over five years of experience building iOS applications, over four years of experience with Swift and open source frameworks, over two years of experience with Agile practices, and over a year of experience as a Tech Lead.

Salary and Benefits

The annual salary range for this role in New York, NY, is $215,200 – $245,600. The actual annualized salary offered to a candidate will depend on the location and will be reflected solely in the offer letter. The role is also eligible for performance-based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives.
