The Opportunity: Intermediate Bank Teller
USAA is seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as Intermediate Bank Tellers. In this role, you will play a crucial part in delivering superior and prompt customer service to our members. Your work will involve handling a variety of banking transactions, either in the USAA Bank lobby or drive-thru. You will also respond to member inquiries related to bank product features and services, all within the prescribed policies, procedures, regulations, and guidelines of USAA banking.
This job profile is designated as a Sensitive Position. Employees in such positions have the authority and ability to conduct in-scope activities, including the movement of USAA or Member funds. These positions are subject to the Enterprise Sensitive Positions Mandatory Time-Away Compliance Policy. As a result, employees in Sensitive Positions are required to fulfill a Mandatory Time-Away (MTA) requirement of 10 consecutive business days each calendar year.
The Part-Time position offers approximately 25 hours per week in person at our San Antonio Home Office. Department hours are Monday to Friday from 8:15 am to 5:15 pm, with rotating Saturdays from 8:15 am to 1:15 pm. Required 3-week training runs from Monday to Friday, 8:15 am to 5:15 pm.
What Does an Intermediate Bank Teller Do at USAA?

As an Intermediate Bank Teller, you work under general supervision and within defined guidelines to complete a variety of basic banking services/transactions in the Bank lobby or drive-thru.

You will also be responsible for resolving basic member issues and/or complaints professionally, identifying appropriate issues for escalation when necessary.

There may be moderately complex work assignments to undertake, including handling estate accounts and special endorsements. You must follow operational processes, procedures, and requirements.

One of the key performance indicators of your role is to maintain a low error ratio, stay within teller cash drawer limits, and remain within the cash outage allowance.

It is also crucial to identify new and emerging fraud transactions and provide accurate, timely communication to management to mitigate loss.

Recognizing member life events and referring potential product needs and self-service opportunities is another critical aspect of the job.

Lastly, you must ensure that risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled following risk and compliance policies and procedures.
What Are the Requirements for this Role?

A High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma is required.

At least 1 year of customer service experience as a teller, in financial services, or a retail sales environment is also necessary.

Applicants must have general math and calculator skills, with the ability to perform basic mathematical calculations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division.

Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills are essential.

Basic knowledge of applicable banking regulations, guidelines, and procedures, including the Patriot Act – Anti-money Laundering, Regulation CC, OFAC, etc., is also required.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this position is: $43,680.00-$59,980.00. USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
