The Sensitive Role of an Intermediate Bank Disputes Specialist

As an Intermediate Bank Disputes Specialist, you will be tasked with protecting the financial interests of USAA and its members. This is achieved by thoroughly investigating and resolving complex and moderately complex fraud and non-fraud transactional disputes filed by members on their cards and deposit accounts, all while complying with federal and state LRRs. The position comes with the authority to conduct in-scope activities, including the movement of USAA or Member funds. This role is classified as a Sensitive Position, requiring the incumbent to fulfil a Mandatory Time-Away (MTA) requirement of 10 consecutive business days each calendar year.

Working in a highly regulated environment, your performance will be measured by quality and productivity metrics aligned to business scorecards. The complexity of the role may require you to conduct in-depth investigations, research claims, identify fraudulent and non-fraudulent activities, determine liability, and execute corresponding financial adjustments. You will also be responsible for providing customer service to satisfy member requests and provide dispute resolution outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Investigate complex Fraud and Non-Fraud Credit Card, Debit Card and Deposit transactional disputes while ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Utilize problem-solving skills and knowledge of LRRs and payment association rules (Visa, Amex, NACHA, Zelle, etc.) to research, resolve, and recover funds for disputed activity.
  • Process account credits/debits when necessary, in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Document the results of a reasonable investigation within the appropriate case management system.
  • Engage in control or exception functions associated with Fraud and Non-Fraud Credit Card, Debit Card and Deposit transactional disputes.

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you should have a High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma. At least 1 year of customer contact experience in a financial services organization, including dispute processing and/or conflict resolution, is required. Moreover, 1 year of analytical problem-solving experience and experience working under Federal Banking Regulations are also necessary.

The salary range for this position is $43,680.00 – $67,840.00.
