Essential Functions and Responsibilities

The Associate, Business Control & Risk Management, operates within the First Line of Defense and assists the CIB Business Control Unit in driving effective and consistent business line execution against the Enterprise Risk Management Framework. The Associate identifies, assesses key risks, and checks control effectiveness throughout the assigned business line. This involves ensuring business unit adherence with applicable risk frameworks, Corporate/Business Line policies, and standards.

Job Function Description

The Associate monitors activities to minimize the Corporate & Investment Bank’s (CIB) exposure to risk. This includes quantitative analysis, risk identification, and remediation. The Associate represents or supports the company’s reputation to minimize compliance and regulatory risks by resolving issues and ensuring adherence to company and legal standards. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring that all of the company’s activities adhere to necessary rules and regulations, and that the company complies with legal/regulatory statutes and jurisdictions.

Key Responsibilities

The Associate is expected to facilitate scenario analysis exercises, support the execution of the firm’s Material Risk Identification and Assessment (MRIA) program, assist in the development and refinement of key risk indicators (KRIs), prepare and review enterprise risk MIS and reporting, and partner with Business Control Officers and risk owners to manage enterprise risks.

Qualifications and Competencies

The ideal candidate should have knowledge of the financial services sector, particularly the products and services of a commercial or investment bank. They should have an advanced understanding of the regulatory environment, strong project management skills, and operational risk management experience. Additionally, a high sense of urgency, effective multi-tasking and prioritization skills, and solid time management and organizational skills are essential.

Education and Work Experience

A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience in Accounting, Business, Statistics, Risk Management, Information Systems, Finance, Economics or equivalent field is required. A Master’s Degree in the same fields is preferred. The candidate should have a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience.

Working Conditions and Pay Range

This is a hybrid position based in Miami, FL. The role demands frequent minimal physical effort such as sitting, standing, and walking. Depending on the location, occasional moving and lifting light equipment and/or furniture may be required. The base pay range for this position is $63,750 to $110,000 annually.
