Role and Responsibilities of the Product Director

The role of the Product Director in Open Banking at Chase is multifaceted and requires the individual to oversee several key areas. The candidate will be responsible for the product roadmap, vision, development, execution, risk management, and business growth targets. They will lead the entire product life cycle and will constantly adapt, develop new products and methodologies, manage risks, and meet business targets like cost, features, reusability, and reliability to support growth.

Additionally, the Product Director will coach and mentor the product team on best practices such as solution generation, market research, storyboarding, mind-mapping, prototyping methods, product adoption strategies, and product delivery. They will also own product performance and will be accountable for investing in enhancements to achieve business objectives.

The candidate is expected to monitor market trends, conduct competitive analysis, and identify opportunities for product differentiation. Partnering with engineering leads, the Product Director will oversee the development team and ensure effective sprint planning and utilization of development cycles. They will also engage in and drive testing and validation across feature delivery, lead a team of product managers, and act as a strategic partner across the Product Quad team partnering with tech, design, and data.

Required and Preferred Qualifications

Chase is looking for candidates with 10+ years of experience or equivalent expertise in delivering products, projects, or technology applications. The individual should possess extensive knowledge of the product development life cycle, technical design, and data analytics. They should have a proven ability to influence the adoption of key product life cycle activities including discovery, ideation, strategic development, requirements definition, and value management.

Experience in leading product teams, driving change within large organizations, and managing stakeholders across multiple functions is essential. The prospective candidate should have strong experience with APIs, including API-based products and services, and an understanding of API-related concepts. Experience in defining and building out product roadmaps is also crucial. The individual should be a structured and strategic thinker, an effective communicator with excellent written and verbal communication skills, and should have a commitment and self-motivation suitable to a start-up team. Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite and with JIRA is desired.

Chase also has a list of preferred qualifications. These include being a recognized thought leader within Open Banking and having demonstrated experience working on a regulated product or feature set.
