The role of a Director in Business and Personal Banking Regional is integral to the overall performance and growth of assigned Bank teams. This position demands a high level of leadership and strategic thinking, where the individual is expected to devise and implement effective business development strategies. The overarching aim of these strategies is to acquire new business from existing or new client relationships. One of the key performance indicators for this role is meeting and exceeding the stipulated sales and revenue goals collaboratively with the team.
Understanding the Market and Competition
Being at the helm of the team, the Director is required to have an in-depth understanding of the market and competition. This understanding forms the basis for informed, strategic decision-making for the business. Moreover, the Director plays a pivotal role in providing leadership to a team of sales and service professionals, ensuring that the established sales, revenue, and service goals are not just met but exceeded.
Attracting and Retaining Talent
Another key responsibility of the Director is to manage workforce stability by attracting, developing, and retaining top talent. This is done by setting high expectations, providing consistent support to the team in achieving goals through coaching, and modeling the behaviors and cultural profile of the Bank. The Director is also responsible for managing the banking center efficiently and effectively, consistently improving banking center results.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
The range of duties and responsibilities of a Director in Business and Personal Banking Regional is vast. The primary ones include consistently meeting and exceeding individual and/or team sales goals, working closely with Relationship Managers (RMs) to structure credit requests, maintaining a strong working knowledge of employee’s roles and responsibilities, and developing and implementing strategic sales action plans.
Ensuring Operational Efficiency
Apart from meeting sales and revenue targets, the Director is also accountable for operational efficiency. This involves training bank staff adequately in selling and cross-selling the Bank’s products and services, working closely with branch personnel to ensure an efficient bank operation, reviewing financial results and ratios against the budget, and managing the banking center in an effective manner.
Community Involvement
Additionally, the Director is expected to maintain visibility in the community to promote a positive image of the company and to uncover additional business opportunities. This involvement also assists in fulfilling the Bank’s Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) requirements.
Qualifications
The role of a Director in Business and Personal Banking Regional requires a specific set of qualifications. These include 5-7 years of Banking experience preferably in sales and sales strategies, strong business development skills, a proven and strong track record of successful leadership and top performance achievement, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, or related field.
