Exciting Opportunities at USAA
One of the exciting opportunities currently available at USAA is the role of a dedicated Data Scientist Principal. The chosen candidate will play a pivotal role in influencing the application, scalability, and enablement of artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML) at USAA.
The Data Scientist Principal will be tasked with identifying novel opportunities for advanced analytics solutions, effectively communicating with business leaders, product teams, and other key stakeholders. They will guide end-to-end solution development, IT implementation, and business adoption, providing strategic guidance to executive leadership. The role requires collaboration with IT Architecture and leadership to ensure that data and analytics tools align with USAA’s strategic vision.
This role also offers a flexible work environment, with the individual required to be in the office four days per week. The position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Colorado Springs, CO, Charlotte, NC, Chesapeake, VA or Tampa, FL. USAA also provides relocation assistance for this position.
Role Responsibilities
As a Data Scientist Principal at USAA, the incumbent will be responsible for various tasks, including identifying, researching, and defining large-scale, cross-functional AI/ML use cases; designing large, complex information assets that enable applied analytics; and ensuring that AI/ML solutions are built using industry best practices, among other responsibilities.
The chosen candidate will also actively raise the bar on talent and recruitment by leading or participating in communities of practice, talent development initiatives, and technical interview panels. They will need to clearly translate complex analytical and technical concepts to diverse, technical, and non-technical audiences in a way that promotes organizational data literacy and informs business priorities.
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate for this role should possess a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant quantitative discipline and have ten years of progressive experience in predictive analytics or data analysis. They should also be well-versed in one or more dynamic scripted languages, such as Python or R, and have extensive project management experience.
USAA’s Competitive Compensation and Benefits
USAA offers a competitive salary range for this position, between $217,520 and $415,760. The actual salary may vary depending on the location and individual’s experience.
