Job Description: Credit Bureau Dispute Specialist – US Bank Card

The Credit Bureau Dispute Specialist – US Bank Card will be responsible for researching direct and indirect credit bureau disputes. The specialist will respond to customers and credit reporting agencies to ensure discrepancies are resolved and timely follow up occurs.

Depth & Scope:

The job requires handling sensitive consumer information like credit bureau data, raw PII, and customer account information. The specialist will use third-party data sources, internal systems, and tools to research and analyze information to ensure accuracy of credit reporting.

The specialist will also be responsible for researching and responding to disputes received directly by mail or email. They will use e-Oscar to quickly respond to indirect disputes in the way of Automated Consumer Dispute Verification (ACDV). The specialist will also research and action feedback from the credit bureaus, internal reporting, and third parties to ensure accurate reporting.

The specialist will maintain a clear understanding of current internal credit-related policies and procedures, as well as all applicable federal regulations and credit industry standards. They must be able to adapt to and endorse change and serve as an agent of positive change to support goals and direction.

Additional responsibilities include ensuring confidentiality of all aspects of the company’s operations, portfolio, customer information, and computer technology. They must be able to work weekdays and weekend/overtime if required to ensure adherence to SLAs. They will engage internal/external partners to obtain pertinent account information and respond to inquiries and assist in resolving problems/complaints.

Education & Experience:

The Credit Bureau Dispute Specialist – US Bank Card position requires an Associate’s Degree or equivalent work experience, with 3+ years in Financial Services. The successful candidate will have superior analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment are also required. Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, and ability to use/learn current technology and software applications related to the position are required. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable of state and federal laws and agencies applicable to collections, including the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and the Dodd-Frank Act.

Preferred Qualifications:

Having FCRA knowledge/experience, Credit Dispute experience, and Bank Card experience is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

The Credit Bureau Dispute Specialist – US Bank Card job requires performing sedentary work and multiple tasks continuously. Operating standard office equipment, sitting, reading, writing and comprehending instructions, adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing are also continuously required. Domestic travel is occasionally required, while international travel is never required.
