Position Overview

The Business Risk & Controls Program Internship is a hybrid role, with time split between working inside and outside of the company’s office. This role falls under the purview of the General Bank’s Business Risk & Controls Department, and the intern will be responsible for supporting various activities and programs that ensure the proper management and oversight of business processes, risks, and controls.

As an intern in this role, you will be involved in developing, monitoring, and managing risk programs in compliance with established policies and standards. This may include building, analyzing, reporting, and drawing conclusions on various risk topics, as well as facilitating and supporting projects.

Responsibilities of the Role

Interns in this role will be part of a dynamic team working on interesting projects. Your responsibilities can range from research and analytics to strategizing, risk management, process improvement, and technology enhancements. You may also be tasked with reviewing and recommending improvements to current processes and procedures, ensuring compliance with relevant rules and regulations.

Beyond these tasks, you will also be expected to attend professional development sessions, informational sessions, networking, and community service events. You’ll have a dedicated manager and program manager to help you navigate the bank and the internship program. You will also be assigned a project designed to improve a specific process or solve a problem, which you will present at the close of the internship.

At the end of the program, you will prepare a wrap-up presentation to be shared with the division leader and other key stakeholders in the company, outlining your accomplishments and experiences during the internship. The internship dates are from 5/27/2026 – 7/31/2026.

Qualifications

Applicants for this internship program should meet some basic qualifications. You should have a High School Diploma or GED and at least one year of experience. You should also be currently enrolled at an accredited collegiate institution during the time of the summer program. The ability to work 40 hours per week during the duration of the program is also a requirement.

Preferred qualifications include pursuing an undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Finance, Risk Management, or a similar field. A minimum GPA of 3.0 is desired. Other preferred skills and abilities include being detail-oriented, having strong reporting and analytical skills, knowledge and use of Microsoft Office applications, and having a strong desire to learn and grow. Positive attitude, curiosity, collaboration skills, critical thinking, multitasking, adaptability, and quick learning ability are also highly valued.
