The Impact of a Senior Relationship Banker
The role of a Consumer and Business Banking Senior Relationship Banker, particularly at Santander’s Main Street branch in Reading, MA, is integral to the institution’s customer-centric transformation. As a Senior Relationship Banker, you are responsible for managing and enhancing client relationships, focusing on attracting and retaining new clients while strengthening existing ones.
This pivotal role involves directly managing and growing a client portfolio of high-value consumer and small business clients. You are tasked with maximizing cross-sales opportunities through effective customer profiling and cultivating interest in various consumer and business banking products. You deliver an exceptional customer experience through engagement of customers in the branch, over the phone, and through collaboration with business partners.
As a Senior Relationship Banker, you are also expected to provide comprehensive support to clients, ensuring their needs are met and issues are resolved efficiently. This includes independently managing a portfolio comprised of both high value consumer clients and small business customers, deepening relationships with new and existing customers by maintaining contact through early engagement calls and regular outreach to portfolio customers, and being an expert on Santander products and services.
Qualities of a Successful Senior Relationship Banker
To excel in this role, an individual must have a high school diploma, GED or equivalent education, and preferably a bachelor’s degree in a related field. They should also have a minimum of five years experience selling products and/or services in an incentive-based environment, or at least two years in Financial Services with direct experience acquiring new client relationships and developing existing client relationships.
Successful Senior Relationship Bankers are motivated to help people achieve financial goals, display a strong financial acumen with a general knowledge of consumer and small business products, and lending, and have a proven track record in sales and cross-selling products and services. They must also have excellent communication, consultative, and influence skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment, building strong relationships with colleagues and business partners.
