Working with Northern Trust Hedge Fund Services
Northern Trust Hedge Fund Services is a rapidly expanding global fund administrator that specializes in complex hedge funds. The role of the Consultant within this department involves supporting both operational execution and process improvement for bank loan trade closing, lifecycle event processing, and reconciliations. This role is particularly suitable for a professional with robust experience in bank debt operations who is eager to take on more complex responsibilities and client-facing tasks.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
As a Consultant, the individual will be expected to support multiple clients in a fast-paced, challenging environment, demonstrating increasing autonomy and initiative. The role also involves liaising with clients, counterparties, and agents to facilitate the closing of syndicated bank loan trading activity on ClearPar. Moreover, the Consultant will independently verify, process, and reconcile trading and lifecycle activities for syndicated and private bank loan investments. Monitoring and maintaining bank debt positions to ensure accurate P&L for financial reporting is also a crucial part of the job.
The Consultant will also assist in resolving complex operational issues and escalate when necessary, contribute to process improvements and operational efficiency initiatives, build and strengthen internal and external relationships, and provide guidance and training to junior team members as needed.
Knowledge / Skills
The Consultant role requires the ability to work independently and cooperatively within a team environment, with a strong client focus and professional communication skills. The ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and with accuracy is a must, alongside excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to meet time-sensitive deadlines with the appropriate sense of urgency.
Being detail and process-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving is essential, and proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications is required. Experience with ClearPar and Bank Loan Closing is preferred, and familiarity with LSTA closing documents is a plus.
Experience
The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field with a 3.0 GPA or higher and have 2-5 years of relevant operational experience supporting syndicated, leveraged, and/or private loans.
The salary range for this role is $74,200 – 126,200 USD.
