Compliance Risk Manager – Banking Advisory

Mercury: Leading the Charge in Compliance Execution and Monitoring

As the fintech industry continues to evolve at a rapid pace, Mercury, a leading player in the space, is making significant strides in upholding strong compliance execution and monitoring throughout its customer-facing operations. The company is acutely aware that maintaining this robust compliance framework is crucial to its ongoing success and scalability.

According to a job posting found on efinancialcareers.com, Mercury is actively seeking a seasoned Compliance Risk Manager for its Banking Advisory team. This role is vital to supporting the Compliance Advisory function via meticulous execution of reviews, monitoring, validation, and documentation within established frameworks.

Key Responsibilities of the Compliance Risk Manager

The Compliance Risk Manager will be tasked with a variety of responsibilities. These include independently executing compliance monitoring and targeted validation activities across defined channels such as customer communications, sales interactions, and marketing activity. The role also requires the individual to own the monitoring and validation work from start to finish, including evidence collection, documentation, follow-ups, and timely completion of deliverables.

Furthermore, the role involves identifying, documenting, and classifying findings, trends, or repeated observations, and escalating issues appropriately. The person in this position will also support the validation of remediation actions through follow-up testing and confirmation reviews, while also preparing clear, precise summaries of monitoring results for team-level reporting and leadership visibility.

What Does Mercury Look for in a Compliance Risk Manager?

For this crucial role, Mercury is seeking a highly motivated compliance professional with at least 3 years of relevant experience in compliance, risk, monitoring, QA, or testing. This experience preferably should be from a FDIC insured bank, but a fintech background is also acceptable.

Mercury values a candidate with a strong ability to independently execute moderately complex reviews or monitoring activities with minimal day-to-day guidance. Experience in applying defined standards, scripts, or criteria to assess customer-facing materials, sales practices, or communications is also highly valued. The ideal candidate should possess strong documentation discipline and attention to detail, with the ability to produce audit-ready evidence.

The company also looks for a proactive professional who can synthesize review outcomes into clear, structured summaries that support team-level decision making. A curiosity and willingness to deepen understanding of Mercury products, regulatory requirements, and compliance risk drivers is also a plus.

Mercury’s Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion

Mercury takes pride in its commitment to diversity and inclusion, and is proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunity employer. The company does not discriminate based on race, color, religion, national origin, age, sex, marital status, ancestry, physical or mental disability, veteran status, gender identity, sexual orientation, or any other legally protected characteristic. Mercury also provides reasonable accommodations throughout the recruitment process for applicants with disabilities or special needs.

The total rewards package at Mercury includes a competitive base salary, stock options, and benefits. Salary and equity ranges are regularly updated based on the most reliable compensation survey data for the fintech industry.

Mercury uses Covey as part of its hiring and / or promotional process for jobs in NYC and certain features may qualify it as an AEDT. Covey is provided with job requirements and candidate submitted applications for evaluation.
