Role of the Commercial Loan Closer, Banking at Northern Trust
At Northern Trust, the Commercial Loan Closer, under general supervision, is responsible for coordinating the account administration for commercial banking clients. The role involves maintaining the account, responding to Relationship Manager and client inquiries, producing reports, and overseeing transaction processing using Credit Master. The Commercial Loan Closer is also responsible for resolving all types of operational or processing issues.
Key Responsibilities
As a Commercial Loan Closer, you will be tasked with the responsibility of coordinating the account administration for commercial banking clients using Credit Master. You will receive and execute service requests from clients and partners, oversee transaction processing, handle inquiry resolution, and ensure systems information is up to date. This role also involves assisting bankers with internal administration of accounts, including due diligence at the onset of a credit opportunity. This includes gathering financial statements, industry research, and other credit information required to assess a loan.
Moreover, you will ensure the accurate set up of fees and balances, and coordinate with National Loan Servicing to execute daily client transaction activities. You are also expected to act as a resource for the relationship servicing team for highly complex Wealth Management relationships. Regular communication with clients and relationship managers to inform them of account set up or status, past due loans, document requests, or other information is also part of the role.
Skills and Experience Required
The ideal candidate for the role of Commercial Loan Closer at Northern Trust should have a good understanding of banking products and services, operations, and accounting systems, usually acquired through related experiences. Knowledge of Credit Master is preferred. The candidate should have strong analytical, problem-solving, attention to detail, and organizational skills to identify and resolve account issues. A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience, or equivalent, in financial servicing/accounting fields with a client servicing background is required.
The salary range for this role is estimated to be between $67,500 – 111,500 USD.
