USAA is currently seeking a dedicated Business Risk and Controls Advisor (Mid-Level) for its bank. This role is critical to maintaining the high standards of risk and compliance management at USAA. You will be the first line of defense, overseeing the overall effectiveness of risk and compliance programs, risk analytics, and business operations.
This position collaborates closely with Compliance and Risk Management, Business Operations, IT, Audit Services, and Regulators to support risk and compliance initiatives. You will be responsible for ensuring business leaders adhere to the established risk framework, supervising business controls, and managing risk assessment data. You will also identify control failures, facilitate risk and compliance remediation, and monitor the first line of defense to strengthen the overall control environment.
USAA offers a flexible work environment, with the position requiring four office days per week. This role can be based out of several locations, including Charlotte, NC, Chesapeake, VA, Colorado Springs, CO, Phoenix, AZ, Plano, TX, San Antonio, TX, and Tampa, FL. Please note that relocation assistance is not available for this position.
What the Role Entails
As a Business Risk and Controls Advisor, your role will involve a variety of tasks and responsibilities. You will advise the business on strengthening and managing their control environment, perform ongoing supervision of business controls, and perform risk data analysis and report preparation.
You will also partner with business owners to identify control failures and assist in translating these into actionable plans. Furthermore, you will provide control oversight to ensure compliance with laws and regulations, and serve as a resource to team members. Overall, your role will ensure that the risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled.
Qualifications and Experience
To qualify for this role, you must have a Bachelor’s degree or four years of related experience. This experience must be in risk-related, compliance-related, or business control design activities. Knowledge of federal laws, rules, regulations, and applicable guidance to the area supported is also required.
What sets you apart is your proficiency in bank consumer protection regulatory compliance, experience in researching, analyzing, and testing regulatory requirements, strong critical thinking skills, and effective relationship-building and influencing abilities. Strong written and verbal communication skills are crucial, and US military experience, either through service or as a military spouse/domestic partner, is beneficial.
Compensation and Benefits
USAA offers competitive compensation, with the salary range for this position being $77,120 – $147,390. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. Employees may also be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance.
