Join Us as a Strategic Risk Leader
Associated Bank is currently seeking a strategic risk leader who will drive the safety and resilience of our technology and operations. This role involves overseeing risk management across key IT areas, including infrastructure, cybersecurity, applications, and vendor services. As a strategic risk leader, you’ll be working closely with senior leaders to fortify our control environment, ensure compliance with enterprise and regulatory standards, and build a high-performing risk team.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead the first line of defense for Bank Operations & Technology risk, overseeing risk programs across infrastructure, cybersecurity, applications, and third-party services.
- Direct the execution of risk assessments, control testing, and remediation efforts to ensure operational resilience and compliance.
- Oversee major incident management, root cause analysis, and mitigation planning to address systemic risks.
- Advise on technology initiatives, including cloud migrations, enterprise upgrades, and digital transformation programs.
- Analyze and report key risk indicators (KRIs) and emerging trends to senior technology and risk leadership.
- Partner with compliance, audit, and second-line risk functions to align practices with enterprise standards and OCC Heightened Standards.
- Mentor and develop a team of risk professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Enhance risk frameworks, tools, and governance processes to improve transparency and control effectiveness.
Education & Experience
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Risk, Cybersecurity, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years of technology or risk management experience with deep knowledge of IT environments and regulatory expectations.
- 3+ years of leadership experience managing managers or larger teams.
- 3+ years of experience in control design, testing, and risk self-assessments.
- Familiarity with banking and financial services regulatory requirements.
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in Information Technology, Risk, Cybersecurity, or related field.
- 2+ years of experience with payment systems (Wire, ACH, RTP).
- Professional certifications such as CRISC, CISSP, CISM, CISA, or ITIL.
- Experience with Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) tools.

$128,170.00 – $219,720.00 per year
