Position Description and Key Accountabilities

The role of a Business Banking Loan Specialist II is a critical one within the banking industry. This position is primarily responsible for working in tandem with Business Banking teammates to collect necessary documents prior to loan closing, create loan documents through the bank’s internal documentation system, and ensure all loan closing requirements are met.

This role necessitates the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. It involves responding to inquiries related to one’s specific area or requests from customers and other Bank personnel within given time frames and within established policy. It also requires providing support to other teams within the department, understanding team processes and procedures, and suggesting updates and/or improvements.

The role also demands strict adherence to all applicable laws and regulations governing bank operations, including compliance with the Bank’s BSA/AML Policy and Procedures.

Ensuring proper documentation and perfection of collateral is another important facet of this role. This involves ordering flood certification, title insurance, and other required third-party information in adherence to policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

The Business Banking Loan Specialist II is responsible for keeping all involved parties updated on loan status throughout the process, answering questions in a timely manner, and notifying all parties when additional information is needed.

A thorough understanding of commercial lending documentation is a must for this role. This includes real estate, unsecured, and simple secured loans for proper generation of needed documents like credit agreements, promissory notes, renewals, etc., and closing.

The most complex Business Banking transactions are also under the purview of this job role, with the position holder acting as an advisor to Business Banking Specialists I on the correct way to document loans.

The Business Banking Loan Specialist II is also tasked with ensuring that loans are funded properly and maintaining thorough knowledge of documentation required to meet underwriting and compliance requirements. General ledger entries and/or wire transfers as needed are prepared by this role, which also ensures high-quality service is provided to internal partners and customers.

Organizational Relationship

This position reports to the Manager – Business Banking Document Preparation

Position Qualifications

A high school diploma or equivalent is required for this role, along with a minimum of 3 years of operations or business lending experience. Banking/accounting/finance experience is preferred.

The ideal candidate should have experience with the MS Office Suite and familiarity with nCino and TruStage is preferred. The role demands a high level of accuracy and great attention to detail, excellent customer service skills, and outstanding oral and written communication skills. The candidate should be flexible, able to adapt to change, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and handle multiple tasks. Familiarity with loan documents and regulatory and legal requirements for loan operations is also necessary.

Compensation

Salary offered will be based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. This position is also eligible to participate in either an applicable incentive compensation plan for the position or a discretionary profit sharing bonus program.
