Job Opportunity: Vice President & Counsel

MUFG is currently seeking an experienced structured finance attorney to join the Americas Legal Department as a Vice President & Counsel. This role is primarily responsible for supporting the Working Capital & Trade Finance business team, with a special emphasis on the Supply Chain Finance/Receivables Finance group within the Global Corporate Investment Bank.

Job Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to handle a range of responsibilities, including but not limited to:

  • Working on all manners of transaction documentation and legal issues related to receivables, payables, participations, drafts/bills of exchange, and UCC matters.
  • Drafting, negotiating, and reviewing core documentation related to various financial transactions.
  • Applying structured-lending and receivables financing fundamentals, such as True sale and security interests.
  • Managing cross-border matters for suppliers and buyers in foreign jurisdictions including governing law, licensing, data privacy, recognition, local enforcement rights/perfection, and coordination with local counsel.
  • Advising and assisting the business in the development and structuring of new products and services, among many other responsibilities.

Qualifications Required

Interested applicants should possess the following qualifications:

  • At least three years of relevant experience with an active/good standing license in New York. Qualifications in England and Wales or other relevant jurisdictions are desirable but not required.
  • Demonstrated expertise in transactional work from within the legal department of a large financial services, investment bank, corporation, or Fintech or similar work experience at a law firm providing related legal support to financial services companies specializing in supply chain finance products.
  • Strong experience in working capital solutions, receivables finance, supply-chain finance.
  • Excellent communication skills, decision-making abilities, and a proven ability to handle multiple complex bilateral deals independently, coordinating cross-functional stakeholders under tight timelines.

The base pay range for this role typically falls between $200k-$225k, depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location. The role may also be eligible for certain discretionary performance-based bonus and/or incentive compensation.
