About the Role: Banking Services Officer

The Banking Services Officer at Mechanics Bank plays a pivotal role in the smooth functioning of the Retail Branch. The role involves managing administrative, compliance, and day-to-day operations of the branch. The Banking Services Officer reports to the Area Operations Manager, providing leadership to branch operations and full-time equivalent (FTE) management, and also has a dotted line reporting to the Branch Manager.

The individual in this role is a subject matter expert in bank policies and procedures, possessing the ability to provide assistance on complex transactions. The officer is also responsible for overseeing teller line functions, cash handling, dual control functions, and staff schedules. They also ensure that the operations staff support branch sales production activities through ethical referrals, and address any customer service escalations.

The responsibilities of the Banking Services Officer at Mechanics Bank include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing the compliance and operational functions of the Retail Branch.
  • Providing leadership, coaching, feedback and developmental support to a team of employees.
  • Ensuring exemplary customer service standards in the branch.
  • Collaborating with the Branch Manager in executing strategic plans for branch success.
  • Managing the office in the Branch Manager’s absence.
  • Actively participating in and leading community activities.

Who is the Ideal Candidate?

The ideal candidate for the Banking Services Officer role at Mechanics Bank is a person with a minimum of 5 years of banking experience with an emphasis on operations. The candidate should have at least a high school diploma or GED or an equivalent combination of education and experience. While not required, a minimum of 2 years of management experience and a notary license are preferred.

The candidate should have thorough knowledge of Retail Office operations, banking internal operating policies and procedures, and Risk Management policies. They should also possess excellent interpersonal skills, leadership abilities, and organizational skills. Attention to detail, the ability to handle customer issues effectively, and being considered a customer service role model are also vital for this role.

Compensation and Benefits

Mechanics Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package designed to cater to the needs of its employees. The pay range for the Banking Services Officer is $70,000 – $87,000 annually, with an additional performance-based incentive plan of up to 7.5%. The bank also provides a variety of benefits, including medical, prescription, dental, and vision coverage for employees and their eligible family members, a 401(k) and Roth 401(k) with company contribution, and a comprehensive education savings plan, among others.
