This role is crucial in managing the administrative, operations, and daily functions of a Retail Branch, all under the remote supervision of the Area Operations Manager. The successful candidate would be instrumental in providing leadership to branch operations and full-time equivalent (FTE) management, with dotted line reporting to the Branch Manager.
The Banking Services Officer is expected to lead the branch in compliance, operations, service, and human resource related tasks for the operations staff. As a subject matter expert in Bank policies and procedures, the Officer provides assistance on complex transactions and oversees the teller line, cash handling, and dual control functions.
The Role of a Banking Services Officer at Mechanics Bank
As a Banking Services Officer, you will be responsible for a range of tasks. This includes ensuring operations staff supports branch sales production activities through ethical referrals, managing branch operations, staffing schedules, FTE budget management, and employee training and development. Furthermore, the Officer ensures exemplary customer service is provided and handles any customer service escalations.
Some of the specific duties include:
- Managing the compliance and operations functions of a Retail branch.
- Administering monthly, quarterly, and annual self-audit checklists, reviewing and approving daily reports, and verifying cash-on-hand balances.
- Managing a team of employees, providing leadership, coaching, feedback, and developmental support.
- Ensuring exemplary customer service standards in the branch.
- Collaborating with the Branch Manager to develop and execute a strategic plan for branch success.
- Managing the office in the absence of the Branch Manager.
- Ensuring active community participation and leadership, including Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) activities, in the local community.
Who is the Ideal Candidate?
The ideal candidate for the Banking Services Officer position at Mechanics Bank should have a High School Diploma or GED. A minimum of five years of banking experience with an emphasis on operations is required, and management experience is preferred. The candidate should have a thorough knowledge of Retail Office operations, including complex transactions, Bank policy and procedures, and Risk Management policies. They should also have a keen understanding of small business and consumer credit principles and practices.
On top of that, the candidate should possess excellent interpersonal skills and successful experience managing and leading people. They should be adept at handling customer issues in difficult situations and demonstrate excellent organizational skills. Attention to detail and accuracy to mitigate risk is also crucial.
Compensation and Benefits
The Banking Services Officer position offers a pay range of $70,000 – $87,000 annually. The position is also eligible for a bonus of up to 7.5% and commission and incentive plans.
