The Role of a Banking Relationship Specialist
Banking Relationship Specialists at ConnectOne play a crucial role in providing a “Client First” banking experience. They are responsible for acquiring, retaining, and expanding banking relationships of both business and consumer clients. They also ensure all activities, transactions, and records are in compliance with the bank’s operational, security, and control procedures, thereby preventing fraud and protecting customer assets.
Key Responsibilities
Banking Relationship Specialists at ConnectOne Bank have a range of responsibilities. They support the bank’s “People First” focus and work as active members of the branch team. They proactively identify opportunities for relationship acquisition and development by cross-selling the bank’s products and services in a consultative manner. They also perform account opening for deposit products and educate clients on the bank’s product and service offerings. Furthermore, they handle customer service issues, assist other branch team members with transactions and overall operations, perform service transactions for the branch, and serve as primary back-up to the Branch Manager or Assistant Branch Manager where applicable. They also participate actively in achieving branch sales objectives and support retail and community events to promote the brand.
Essential Skills
The role of a Banking Relationship Specialist requires one to three years of bank platform sales and teller experience, a detailed understanding of federal banking compliance and requirements, strong needs-based sales skills, and a strong “People First” interest and ability. Effective team-building and interpersonal communication abilities are also necessary, along with the ability to lift items up to 25 lbs. Mastery of ConnectOne Bank culture is also required.

The salary for a Banking Relationship Specialist at ConnectOne Bank ranges from $22 to $27 per hour.
