Role and Responsibilities of a Relationship Banker I

The Relationship Banker I role is a vital one in our Banking Center. The role involves providing services to our customers, assisting the team in achieving sales, service, and operational goals based on Webster’s strategic guidelines. You will be expected to process all customer-related financial transactions in accordance with the rules, regulations, and guidelines of the bank.

Excellent communication and active listening skills are key in understanding the financial needs of our customers, establishing trust, optimizing sales opportunities, generating leads, and providing quality customer service. A Relationship Banker I is also expected to develop and maintain strong partnerships with various business segments through collaboration and communication.

Your Duties Will Include:

  • Responding to customers’ needs accurately and timely, leveraging on available resources and tools.
  • Evaluating clients’ needs and offering appropriate financial products and services through needs-based conversations to build and deepen relationships.
  • Performing routine teller transactions such as deposits, withdrawals, check cashing, loan payments, and other transactions.
  • Supporting the segmentation strategy by implementing sales, retention, and other bank initiatives to execute the Banking Center’s growth and profitability objectives.
  • Achieving or exceeding individual and team goals in sales, service, and operations.
  • Maintaining compliance with Federal and State regulations as well as bank policies and procedures. Meeting or exceeding branch audit and operations evaluation requirements.

Skills and Abilities

We value individuals who can work flexibly and/or on a rotating schedule. You may be required to work on Saturdays, Sundays, and extended hours. Travel may be required to alternate Banking Centers. A self-starter and highly motivated individual with a working knowledge of all products and services would be an ideal fit. Keeping current with all systems used for branch transaction processing is a must. Strong customer service skills and the ability to support teamwork and create a positive working environment are also desirable.

Education and Experience Qualifications

An applicant is expected to have a high school diploma or a General Education Degree (GED). A Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) or an Associate’s Degree is preferred. 3-4 years of customer service and needs-based banking sales experience is also preferred.

The estimated salary range for this position is $18.50 to $23.00 USD hourly. Actual salary may vary up or down depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position is eligible for incentive compensation.
