Responsibilities of the Banking Center Manager Position

The Banking Center Manager plays a crucial role in directing and administering the operational efforts of the banking center. The manager is responsible for ensuring that established policies and procedures are adhered to, providing a full range of services to customers and prospective customers, and ensuring that customers are served promptly and professionally. It’s also the manager’s responsibility to train, direct, and supervise lobby and teller staff, and to ensure the banking center transactions, expenses, and profitability align with the Bank’s standards.

Key Functions and Duties

There are several essential functions and responsibilities that come with this managerial role. Some of these include supervising scheduling and workflow, ensuring banking center security, guaranteeing operations align with Bank policies and legal requirements, ensuring monthly and quarterly audit requirements are met, assisting with customer service functions, cross-selling Bank services, and implementing changes to policies and procedures within the banking center.

Maintaining Proper Cash Controls

In addition to overseeing operational aspects, the Banking Center Manager is also in charge of maintaining proper cash controls. These duties include ensuring all transactions are balanced at the close of each day, overseeing individual accountability for cash handling, and assisting Tellers in resolving balancing problems. The manager also controls and handles daily deposits following established policies and periodically verifies cash in possession of Tellers and cash on the premises.

Supervising Banking Center Staff

The Banking Center Manager also has a crucial role in supervising banking center staff and ensuring optimal performance. This supervisory role includes setting effective objectives and providing clear communication, directing, coordinating, and reviewing tasks, and conducting regular meetings with banking center employees to inform and train. The manager also tracks individual progress, conducts performance appraisals, and formulates and implements corrective actions as needed. In addition, the manager approves all sick leave, vacation, overtime, and timesheets for each banking center associate and keeps accurate payroll and attendance records.

Building Effective Customer Relations

Building effective and professional business relations with customers is another key responsibility of this role. The Banking Center Manager ensures that customer requests and questions are promptly resolved and handles customer complaints as needed. The manager also counsels customers regarding their financial needs and services requested, and ensures that the Bank’s quality reputation is maintained and projected.

Administrative Functions

On the administrative side, the Banking Center Manager ensures that banking center operations are well coordinated, manages and oversees expenses, continually seeks ways to improve operations and productivity, prepares periodic banking center activity reports, ensures proper maintenance and general housekeeping of the building, and keeps management informed of banking center activities.

Required Qualifications

To qualify for this role, you must have an associate degree in business or a related field, or an equivalent combination of training and work experience. You must also have a thorough knowledge of Bank services and products, an understanding of related legal and regulatory requirements, and familiarity with Branch functions, policies, and procedures. A minimum of three years of related experience in a financial institution, with at least two years in a supervisory role, is also required. Strong interpersonal, leadership, and supervisory skills, as well as the ability to operate related computer applications and related business equipment, are also necessary.
